This interactive database of Italian academies is based on the five fundamental volumes by Michele Maylender, Storia delle accademie d'Italia (1926-30). The mottoes are listed by Prof. Jennifer Montagu of the Warburg Institute, and linked to the emblems catalogued in ms. 1028 of the Casanatense library in Rome.
